It seems like it was just yesterday when the temperatures reached the high 30s and slathering on SPF was the daily norm. However, now that we move into the colder autumn months, and the heat of the sun is not an everyday occurrence, it seems like there’s no longer a need for SPF. But if you thought that, you would be very wrong.
UV Rays All Year Round
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, “UVB rays are stronger during the summer months, UVA rays, which account for 95 percent of the UV rays that reach earth, maintain the same level of strength during daylight hours throughout the year” meaning that protecting your skin all year round is very important. These rays are responsible for premature ageing, wrinkles, dark spots, cancer, and are mostly unaffected by a cloudy grey day.
What I’m Wearing
You guys know I’m loyal to the Nivea Sun UV Face sunscreen. I layer that on top of my Nivea Q10 Plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Day Cream SPF15, and underneath my Dream Urban Cover SPF50 to make sure I’m covered. As for my body, I don’t really bother with sunscreen as I wear a lot of dark clothing. Dark, tightly-woven (tights, leggings), and loose clothing is said to be a great defence against ultraviolet rays, so I feel like at least my body is covered and protected.
So now I’m asking you. Are you still remembering to wear sunscreen in the autumn?
