By now we’re all aware that double cleansing is the key to clean, fresh skin (especially if you wear makeup). And while there are many critics who don’t always see the use in washing your face twice, I’m certainly not one of them. Not only do I love a good double cleanse and making sure my face is clean and rid of any makeup after a long day; but most recently I’ve started triple cleansing. Yep, you read that right: I wash my face three times.
Why I triple cleanse
Firstly, I triple cleanse for the same reason I double cleanse. As I wear a full face of makeup (foundation and extra mascara — you guys know I loooooove a thick globby lash) it’s important that I remove it at the end of the day. However, because I’ve also recently become more prone to outbreaks and crazy looking skin, a third wash ensures that I properly treat my clean skin.
What I cleanse with
What I triple cleanse with depends on where I am. However, I tend to stick to a fairly similar regimen. When I’m home, I always start with my Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Cleansing Oil. This stuff is perfect for removing every last scrap of makeup, dirt and grime from my face without drying out my skin. I’ve been using this for over a year and I swear I’ll never use anything else again because it’s that awesome.
I then follow up with my Dudu Osun black soap to remove any oil residue that may be left on my face.
Then once my face is totally clean and void of any product, I use the Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Control Daily Wash (post coming soon) to treat my skin and help prevent future breakouts. This stuff is honestly so great and the number of breakouts I’ve experienced done using it has DECREASED by A LOT omggggg!
If I’m at my boyfriend’s house (yep I even do a triple cleanse there) the routine is pretty similar except for a few alterations. I’ll remove makeup etc. with the Fresh Seaberry Oil. I’ll then double cleanse with the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser (sidenote: my boyfriend loves this cleanser too), before finishing with the Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash.
Do I always triple cleanse?
Nope, not always. I only triple cleanse in the evening after work or when I’ve been wearing makeup. Any other time I only do a single cleanse. When I’m at home I’ll single cleanse with the Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Control Daily Wash. But whenever I’m at my boyfriend’s house I’ll cleanse with the Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash.
How long does triple cleansing take me?
All in all, doing this takes about twenty minutes. While this may seem like a really long time, I feel like it’s only right spending the same amount of time removing makeup that I spend applying my makeup. Plus, I only do this in the evening so I’m not rushing loads in the morning. Another thing to add is that I make sure to really massage my face and rub the product deep in my skin. Facial massage is essential for a number of reasons such as lymphatic drainage and relaxation. I take great pleasure from washing my face so washing it three times is honestly such a dream for me.
Ooh, all this is reminding me that I need to share my updated nighttime routine.
