Since I’ve embarked on this hair journey, I spend a lot of my time doing a lot of research into hair products, ingredients, techniques etc., and with that research, I’m able to try all sorts of new stuff on my hair, which in turn inspires posts for you. With that in mind, I wanted to start a new series called: Treatments to Try, where I will share treatments I’ve read about that I am eager to try. Not only will I be able to share my research, but it’ll also act as a reminder to me to actually try the treatments too, as sometimes I forget specific treatments and ingredient combinations I’ve read about – and what better way to keep track of and share research. Today’s treatment is a coffee rinse.
If you didn’t know, I do a green tea rinse twice a month (sometimes more depending on if I remember to save my tea bags) – you can check out my post about it here – which got me thinking, what other beverages could I use on my hair. This is when I stumbled upon some research about coffee and how it can be used to reduce shedding and to give your hair a glow. Coffee is already being attributed to helping stave off Alzheimer’s and other serious illness thanks to its antioxidants. The caffeine in coffee (aside from keeping you awake) blocks chemicals which damages hair follicles, and has the potential to stimulate hair growth.
The best coffee apparently is either French roast or espresso, but I think that when the time comes for me to try this out, I’ll just use whatever coffee is in the cupboard.
Let me know if you’ve tried this coffee treatment and I can’t wait to share more treatments in the future!
