I’ve talked about my love for tea tree oil a lot on the blog (check out posts here, here and here), but I noticed it’s been a little while since I last said anything about it. In fact, it was while editing next week’s YouTube video about how to get a super sleek low bun, that I realised I should reshare my love for the Blue Magic Tea Tree Oil Leave-In Conditioner. This then led me to think about writing a longer post about the wonders of tea tree oil, why I love it, and why it’s so good for natural hair.
Reduces itchiness
As a natural disinfectant, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal substance, tea tree is great for relief dandruff and itchy scalps. I know that whenever my scalp is extra itchy, once I apply this oil to my scalp it’s instantly relieved. Tea tree oil does this by killing any bacteria or build-up that can cause dry scalps and dandruff. I find that my scalp is at its most itchy close to wash day and when I’m in the heat, so I try to apply some Blue Magic Tea Tree Oil Leave In Conditioner to sections of my hair that are most affected. If you can, it’s best to massage your scalp with this oil at least once a week. I’m trying not to manipulate my hair so much these days, so I only do this once a week, but I’ve done this about three times a week in the past.
Soothing and moisturising
This one leads on from my first point. As tea tree is great for destroying fungus’ and irritations, it makes sense for it to be a soothing agent that restores balance. This is extremely important for natural hair and afro hair because it means the hair is in a great position to grow as strong and as healthily as possible. Plus, it’s a known fact that moisturised hair grows a lot faster and better than dry hair. In my first couple of months as a natural, I definitely noticed increased hair growth from using the Blue Magic Tea Tree Oil Leave-In Conditioner.
Smells amazing
Last but not least (and probably a bit shallow lol), I love using tea tree oil for the smell. There’s something about the fresh yet tangy scent that makes me feel so good and relaxed whenever I get a whiff of it. I also love how it leaves my hair with a light citrusy scent.
Not just for hair, tea tree oil is great for a number of things like skin, nails, treating acne and more. This is definitely an oil that you should always have on hand.
