As someone who preaches about the benefits of wearing sunscreen, I’m always on the lookout for new ones hitting the market. So when I saw that The Inkey List was coming out with a sunscreen of their own, I couldn’t hit “add to basket” quick enough.
Known for their affordable yet highly effective skincare, I was expecting big things from the Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Dewy Sunscreen that promised white-cast free (the bare minimum at this point if you ask me) sun protection, hydration, a dewy finish and glorious primer base for makeup.
What I liked
- The beautiful dewy finish
- Even though it took a bit of time, once this sunscreen had been rubbed into my skin and had fully absorbed, the dewy finish of it was immaculate. If you love that glowy sheen sunscreens give, then you’ll appreciate the glazed-doughnut vibes.
- Super hydrating
- I’ve said this so many times on here, but my skin is dry and dehydrated, and oftentimes I find that sunscreens can dry my face out and leave my skin feeling really uncomfortable deep down in the layers. However, this deeply hydrating sunscreen kept my face feeling good throughout the day – even while I was wearing makeup. I also love that I don’t always need to wear moisturiser with it thanks to its trio of squalane, glycerine and polyglutamic acid.
What I disliked
- Not lightweight
- This sunscreen felt thick and heavy whenever I first applied it to my face. I’m so used to using lightweight sunscreens that I was surprised at how heavy the Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid sunscreen felt. That said, as the day went on, I didn’t feel it on my face so much, especially after putting makeup on top of it.
- Too tacky
- I know this is also supposed to act as a priming base for makeup (and if you’re used to using primers this might not be such a bad thing), but this sunscreen is so sticky when it’s first applied. It was so sticky that I had to wash my hands after applying which is something I didn’t like because it felt like a waste of product, as I always like to massage my hands with whatever product is left over to help treat my hands as well
