In my latest YouTube video, I shared an evening self-care pampering routine featuring the same Body Shop Shea Exfoliating Sugar Scrub I posted here on Friday.
First Impressions
There are a couple of things that I wasn’t expecting and surprised me when I first opened the jar.
One of the main reasons I picked this over the other flavours (more on that in a bit), was because this was shea. I love how moisturising and fragrant shea is, so I was a bit disappointed when this scrub smelt more like plastic than it did of the rich exotic shea that I’m used to. I followed up this scrub with Avon’s Cocoa Butter Body Wash, which made up for the lack of smell.
The other thing that threw me off with this body scrub, was the texture. Because of other scrubs I’m used to using, I had been expecting something creamy, rich and thick. Instead, this scrub was brittle, gravelly and hard. After the initial shock, I wasn’t bothered by the texture. In fact, I loved the hardier texture and felt that it was giving me a deeper exfoliation and clean.
Aside from these two things, my experience with this scrub was pretty standard. I used this scrub with The Body Shop Body Polisher I shared on Friday. Both of these combined gave me an amazing exfoliation and felt like the amazing spa treatment I’d gotten for my birthday last month.
Pros
I loved how soft this body scrub made my body – especially my legs – and how it helped prep my legs for when I shaved them. The scrub was so impressive, that my skin felt incredibly smooth for several days. If you want a spa-grade exfoliation, then I couldn’t recommend this body scrub enough. I would also pair this with the Body Polisher for a deeper clean to buff away dead skin.
Cons
Though this isn’t exactly a mega con, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of smell. As I said before, I love shea products (mostly because of the fruity yet nutty aroma) so when I realised that this didn’t smell of anything it was a bit surprising. I probably still would’ve bought it eventually had I have known, but maybe not straight away.
Anything Else?
Like I mentioned on Friday, this body scrub has many other flavours, so once I finish with this, I’ll definitely try the others. I’m most looking forward to getting the Coconut and Mango flavours.
