Up until about three weeks ago, I hadn’t used the Charlotte Tilbury Push Up Lashes Mascara in about a year. As a lover of makeup and beauty, I’d become besotted with my latest crush (the Pat McGrath Labs Dark Star Mascara) and was trying desperately to make the best of a clearly subpar alternative (the Westman Atelier Eye Want You Mascara). Needless to say, Charlotte had taken a backseat in my makeup routine, and it wasn’t something I was reaching for… but that would soon change.

Ever since the first time I tried the 4ml travel-sized Charlotte Tilbury Push Up Lashes in September 2022 (I had to check my Cult Beauty account to be 100% sure), I knew I’d stumbled on greatness. Thick, inky black and long-lasting, this mascara did something to my lashes I’d thought I’d experienced with other products but quite obviously had not, and that was deliver me a lash so bold, so faux-looking and so eyewateringly gorgeous, that I promptly bought the full-sized 10ml tube – and so began my love affair with Charlotte Tilbury makeup products (a story for another post).
I think the weird and non-conventional bristles made this mascara so groundbreaking. Depending on the angle, the flat side of the brush gives an ultra-stacked look, but flip it and you’ll get a more demure, albeit still bold lash.

I know that life isn’t all about compliments and looking good, but sometimes it is. I’ve lost track of the amount of comments I’ve gotten over the years whenever I wear this mascara. Whether it’s co-workers in the office asking if I’m wearing falsies or guys in bars showering me with pointless compliments about how beautiful my eyes are (lol), there’s not been a time when I’ve worn this mascara that I haven’t felt like THAT girl (and haven’t wanted to wax lyrical about this Charlotte Tilbury Push Up Lashes mascara.

Now, like I say, I’m a lover of makeup and beauty, and one glance at either this blog or my YouTube page, you’ll see that I’m constantly trying different things, buying new launches and generally exploring products and brands. I should also say that mascara is my all-time favourite makeup product. I love the way it makes my eyes look bigger, the whites of my sclera appear clearer, and the black of my lashes richer. And as someone who wants the biggest, boldest, blackest lashes, 1) I’m a sucker for mascara and 2) I’ll jump at the chance to discover and test them. So naturally, it would make sense that I would dabble in other mascaras from time to time (even though I always come back to my fave): Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara, Chanticaille Faux Cils Mascara, the aforementioned Pat McGrath Labs and Westman Atelier, to name a few.
While some fared better than others (the Pat McGrath Labs Dark Star is definitely a close second to Push Up Lashes), others fell so flat I was in disbelief (Westman Atelier, I’m looking at you); there was just something missing. And it wasn’t until I saw a tweet about how the “no lash” trend was a recession indicator that then inspired me to film a breakdown of my favourite mascaras, that I realised what the issue with all my mascaras for the last year had been: they weren’t the Charlotte Tilbury Push Up Lashes. After filming that video, I went back to using my old Push Up Lashes tube (despite a teeny bit of crustiness, it did the job) and rediscovered in real time how fucking fabulous it was and saw how much I’d been punishing myself.
I rebought the Charlotte Tilbury Push Up Lashes mascara, and (my) world has been put to rights. I’m telling you, the way reincorporating this mascara into my beauty routine has not only improved my makeup, but also saved me time overall, is insane. I went from spending eight minutes applying mascara for a mediocre finish to spending the same eight minutes on a woooow lash. Don’t believe me? One lick of mascara packs a mighty punch, instantly coating your lashes in dark pigment. A second or third dip in the tube intensifies the colour, giving you such a bold, faux-looking lash, you’ll think you’ve gotten extensions.
