I recently wrote about my joy of finally being able to get my hair up into a top knot, a go-to hairstyle pre ditching the relaxer. While I am super happy about this, I want to give my attention to another hairstyle that’s been a part of my hair routine: the low bun.
Sleek, classic, simple and yet striking, something has to be said about the beauty of a low bun. Low buns always make me look more polished and “together” than I actually am, but at the same time, it still manages to make me look casual. It truly is the best hairstyle you can dress up or dress down.
For naturals, a low bun is such a lifesaver because it’s an easy protective style to do and takes little to no time to create (at least compared to other styles like braids, box braids, weaves, cornrows etc.). It’s also great for keeping your hair up and away from your face as well as keeping it safe from exposure to the elements. And finally, it helps take care of your delicate ends as these can be tucked away safe and secure.
Ah, but really, what’s not to love about a low bun?
