Beach Holiday Skincare Essentials L-R: Bondi Sands Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 & SPF 50, Tropic Tamanu Balm, Fresh Sugar Lip Ointment, Caudalie Very High Protection SPF 50, Fresh Rose Hydration Mist
I’ve come back from a glorious sun-filled holiday in Greece and these are the beach holiday essentials that kept me hydrated and protected.
Sunscreen
Obviously, I had to kick this post off with sunscreen – one, if not, THE most important beach holiday essential. During my time in Greece, I carried three sunscreens around with me (I’d packed four but thought it’d be excessive carrying them all around with me lol): two for my body and one for my face.
For body, you can’t go wrong with Bondi Sands, one of the leading sun protection skincare brands out there. I really like their fragrance-free body sunscreen with SPF 30 (the blue tube) and SPF 50 (the white tube). They rub in nicely, don’t leave a horrible cast and keep my skin protected. However, one thing I noticed for the first time in a year of using them, is that depending on the heat, they can feel quite sticky and almost gritty on the skin if you’ve been sweating a lot.
For the face, nothing beats the Caudalie Vinosun Very High Protection SPF50. I’ve been using this sunscreen religiously for YEARS, and will always, always, always rebuy. Most days I would only use it as a top-up, but there was the occasional day that I used it first thing in the morning as well as for top-ups. The other face sunscreen I would use was the Tropic Sun Day Facial UV Defence SPF50. Tropic kindly gifted it to me in PR, but this holiday was the first time I’d gotten around to actually trying it. Needless to say, it’s such a good sunscreen and I will be buying it for myself.
Mist
If you know anything about me, you know I love me a mist. Sadly, because of luggage weight restrictions, I could only bring one, so naturally it had to be the Fresh Rose Instant Hydration Mist. I’ve lost track of how many bottles I’ve rebought over the years and for good reason. This mist is insanely hydrating, lightweight and soothing – just what you need when it’s 38° and your skin is feeling thirsty from the heat or parched from the crazy air con.
Balm
And then finally, a balm. To be honest, I’m fairly new to the world of balms (apart from balm cleansers) so I’m still learning about which ones I like. But one that’s already made the cut is the Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Rescue Ointment. This multi-use lip balm is such a godsend because not only will it soothe and rehydrate your lips in an instant, but it’ll also help soothe and nourish any dry patches you have. Since buying this I’ve used it on my lips and outer nostrils to ward off peeling skin.
Whether you’ll be taking in the sights on a city break, or indulging in some much-needed R&R on the beach, these beach holiday skincare essentials are sure to see you through the next time you’re out in the sun all day.
