On Monday I shared my disappointing shopping trip last Friday that involved me being unable to find anything in my shade, but that did result in me buying a concealer (which I will be sharing my first use with you very soon) – and breathe. So on Sunday, I decided to go for round two, only this time there was no makeup buying involved – meaning that the likelihood of me being let down again was fairly low; or at least in this case non-existent. And to cap off the shopping excursion, Superdrug gave me a free Kinda Bueno for shopping with my beautycard!
VASELINE
Is it weird that I only started using Vaseline products (the lip balm not included) this year? I think I must have been extremely sceptical about using their body products, especially as I find that a lot of brands aren’t all that effective on my skin. As I’m prone to dry-ashy skin (yep, black girl problems) I’ve found that a lot of moisturisers that claim to help dry skin are either really thin, rubbish and don’t do the job, or I’m left with gross oily and shiny skin that feels more like snake or crocodile leather than actual human skin. So anyway, the point I’m trying to get at is that Vaseline leaves my skin feeling soft, hydrated, nourished and a nice glowy brown. Additionally, their deodorant is great and doesn’t leave me with white flaky armpits like a lot of other roll-ons do. These products also last for the longest time. I’ve already had my old ones for over FOUR MONTHS. Bonus: I’m kind of a little bit obsessed with anything with aloe in it so these are definitely a must-buy for me.
REAL TECHNIQUES
As a novice to the whole makeup thing, I had no idea what brushes to get or what different brushes do, so when I saw this box set I was happy to see all the basic brushes together in one place, with their different jobs listed beside them. I do have to say that I was first “inspired” (I’m not sure that’s the right word but whatever hahaha) to purchase Real Techniques brushes by beauty youtuber Dani Mansutti (who also inspired me to start this blog) who always uses these brushes in her tutorials. I love the way they blend her makeup and make her look PERF. Sidebar: you should deffo check out her YouTube channel… RUN DON’T WALK.
EYLURE
As you’ll hopefully come to know I am OBSESSED with mascara and making my lashes the biggest, thickest and blackest they can be. There’s really nothing I crave more (makeup wise anyway) than having nice long lashes. While I love achieving said look with mascara, sometimes it’s just not enough so I decided to invest in some falsies in the hopes of getting that intense lash look I’ve been after. I’ve only tried false lashes once in my life – this was two years ago in my second year at uni – and I hated them, but probably because they didn’t fit my face and looked too crazy, but I’ve decided to give them another go, and I really think these Eylure ‘Exaggerate’ ones will be perfect. Again, I chose these particular ones because I saw them in one of Dani’s videos…
So there we have my mini haul from Sunday. Of course when I open these, I will be sharing the unboxing as well as my experiences using them, so stay tuned for that!
