This Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil review has honestly been a long time coming. If you’ll remember, I first got this as part of the Patricia Bright X Cosmetips October Beauty Box, alongside many other goodies. Because I was using mandelic acid at the time, I didn’t actually get round to using this oil until around mid-January this year. Read on to check out my first impressions.
First Impressions
- It’s really an oil
- Duh it’s an oil, but surprisingly it’s not super oily if that makes sense – which is great because I don’t like the greasy texture of oil, especially on my face or hands
- Yes the oil is actually GREEN
- I’m not sure what colour I thought it’d be, but definitely not green. Don’t worry, it doesn’t leave a green cast or anything and it doesn’t transfer green on to anything. It’s also kiiiiiiind of thick but nothing too bad (like I mentioned above)
- The smell is pretty intense (and not in a good way)
- This oil smells… different. I’d expected a lovely sharp tea tree smell, but this does not really smell like that at all
- For acne-prone skin but haven’t noticed much with my skin
- Even though this is supposed to be for acne-prone skin, I can’t say it’s really helped with spots because I’ve still been getting spots. I’ve also noticed that the spots I do get are hanging around way longer than usual which is obviously not ideal
- A little goes a long way
- I only do about two to three droplets (depending on my mood) which are enough to cover my whole face and neck. Fun fact, I’ve only been using it for just over a month and I’m still not even halfway done
Anything Else?
I thought this oil would be good for dark spots and got my hopes up quite high that all my spots would fade within days or weeks. That said, I’ve noticed that skin has improved so much and my dark spots are beginning to fade but maybe not as fast as I would’ve liked. Again, I have only been using this for over a month (and I think you’re supposed to really notice a difference after 40 days) and still have a lot of the bottle left to use, so it could still be early days.
Interestingly enough, I’ve found that when I put too much on or use too often, my skin breaks out a tiny bit – so I don’t always use it when I use other products with active ingredients like the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser.
Even though I’ve still got a lot of the bottle to get through, I’m not too sure I’ll buy it again. I’ve got my eye on the Sunday Riley Good Genes serum, which I’ve seen has done wonders for people with dark spots and acne issues.
Anyway, make sure you stay tuned to my YouTube channel because I’ll be sharing an updated evening skincare routine featuring this facial oil. Subscribe to my channel so that you don’t miss it.
