Summer may be winding down but it seems like the weather is giving us a final chance to make the most of the beautiful warmth before temperatures start to drop. So while the sun is still shining and we’re basking in the heat, I wanted to share my summer skincare essentials I’ve been using all summer long.
Sunscreen
Of course, no summer skincare list would be complete without sunscreen. For all the reasons why you should be need to be wearing sunscreen – yes even you, my dark-skinned sisters – you can read these posts here, here and here. My sunscreens of choice are both from Nivea. I use the Nivea Sun UV Face Q10 Anti-Age & Anti-Pigments SPF50 for my face; and the Nivea Sun Protect & Moisture Moisture Lock SPF50+.
Exfoliate
It may sound a little weird, but you should actually be exfoliating in the summer. It’s important to make sure you’re cleaning out pores that are more prone to being clogged with sweat, dirt and sunscreen. I use the Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser for my face twice a day. When I’m at my boyfriend’s house I’ll use the Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash instead. I also like to use the Fresh Sugar Face Polish a couple of times a week to really get my face clean. Then for my body, I use the Palmers Cocoa Body Scrub.
Mask
And finally masking! As your face spends more time in contact with the sun, replenishing and rehydrating is something to do constantly. I absolutely love using the Fresh Rose Face Mask. It’s soothing, cooling hydrating, toning and smells AMAZING. This is especially nice after taking off your makeup and gently scrubbing your face with the aforementioned Sugar Face Polish. Heaven.
These three things should be part of your skincare routine anyway, but they’re even more crucial during the warmer months.
