When these pictures were taken, it was a rare time when my face wasn’t being plagued by breakouts (small wins) and I was basking in the joy of a somewhat blemish/dark spot-free face. The only issue, as you’ll see from a couple of the shots, was the new sunscreen I’d been using. If you have dark skin (or even a bit of pigment in your skin), you know the struggles of finding a suitable sunscreen, so while I’ll spare you that whole speech, it is a shame that you never know how sunscreen will show up on your skin until you’ve applied it, let it sit then go ahead with a photo shoot. But, oh well.
It’s funny that at the time, I thought the grey had ruined the photos, but after revisiting the shots, I kind of like that ashy tinge to my skin. I think the grey mixed with the oliveness of my skin tone and the cream of the backdrop, give the photos a sepia appeal, don’t you think?
ps. Did you peep my reference to Eva Marcille’s iconic ANTM cycle three photo – you know, the one where she’s wearing stacks of diamond rings and has a spider on her hand? I was totally obsessed with that photo when the episode first aired way back in 2004, and to this day, it’s still one of my all-time favourite photos.
