Inspired by the bright and warm colours of the beautiful town in Gran Canaria, this collection of photos captures the light and joy of the island. These photos were taken at the end of 2022 when I visited Mogán to celebrate my 30th birthday.
The island was an absolute explosion of colour, so I wanted to focus on the boldest ones that featured most across the municipal like blues, oranges, greens and pinks. I loved the contrast in the pure blue sky against the brown of my tanned skin, the yellows of my straw hat and the textures of nature. Each photo is a recreation of the hues constantly present during my seven-day stay. While I view myself as somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to my preferred colour palette, there is something so inviting and powerful about unabashed maximalist colour that calls to be seen and heard, which is why I wanted to pay homage to that incredible quality Mogán had to offer through these photos. You’ll notice that compared to my other work, these photos are brighter, cheerier and zingier.
Everything about the small beach town was magical. From the glorious weather to the generous hospitality and serene tranquillity, I couldn’t have found a better place to ring in my new decade and relax after a crazy, emotional and stressful few months.
I hope you feel the heat, bliss and happiness of my short stay on the island. Staying in Mogán felt like I was recharging my batteries. Every day spent in the sun, embracing the change in my surroundings, helped fill me up and reset myself.
