Though I have the face of an fifteen year old (don’t fight me on this – being ID’d everywhere I go only confirms this), and have been blessed with copious amounts of melanin that means I’ll continue to age in reverse a la Benjamin; as it happens, I recently turned 25. Now, don’t get me wrong, I have been waiting for this magical age since forever (don’t ask me why) and I have no problem in getting older or being a quarter of a century – in fact I strongly welcome it. The problem, it seems, really comes from treating my body with the care it needs at this age, and realising that what I did (or didn’t) do to my skin when I was a teen, just won’t cut it now that I’m nearing 30. Sure there are some things I’ve already implemented in my life that I certainly had no care for ten years ago – hello natural hair and a somewhat consistent regime that’s seen my hair grow past what it was when I was younger – but there’s still more to be done. So with that in mind, I’m eager to incorporate some new habits into my life, starting with skincare. I’m now well aware that gone are the days when one moisturiser will do for every part of my body, and I now see that I must be more diligent in figuring out what my skin needs and which products are right for the job in ensuring that I continue to look eighteen when I’m 45. In my quest for finally taking responsibility for my life, I found a few recommendations courtesy of my faves Byrdie, Into The Gloss and Sheer Luxe. Check them out below.
