Scrubs may have been getting a bad rep as of late, but if there’s one scrub you shouldn’t throw to the wayside, it’s the Fresh Sugar Face Polish. I’ve been using this for almost a year and I’ve lost count of how many jars I’ve used. Made with sugar (a natural exfoliant) and strawberries (these are rich in vitamin C so are great for fading dark marks), I honestly cannot get enough of the stuff.
The jar advises you use three to four times a week but I tend to use this about once a week, and for good reason. I hadn’t used it for a few weeks and it was definitely noticeable on my face. Not only was I randomly breaking out in small bumps, but my skin looked drab and dull, and not its usual brown and glowy self. But the truth was in the pudding mirror the next morning after I finished applying my makeup. My skin looked bright, alllllmost flawless (these pesky dark marks are always holding me back :P), and like it had spent the week relaxing on a sunny beach in Sardinia.
Unlike other face scrubs, this is technically a mask. After applying to wet skin in circular motions (hello facial massage), you’re supposed to let it sit for 5-10 minutes – though I prefer leaving it on for a few hours – then rinse off with warm water. I swear that by the time it comes to washing off, my face is left feeling oh so plump and soft, like fluffy cushion soft, and I am literally beaming.
This beauty comes in two sizes: 30g and 125g. The smaller size is ideal for travel as it sits within the 100ml limit, and it’s also a lot cheaper than the larger one. That said, the larger size is definitely worth every penny and lasts pretty much forever.
