I want to start by saying that this is definitely a product that you want to follow the directions on the container for, in terms of how long to keep it on your head for. The container said to leave it on for 5-10 minutes but I left it on for about 20. In that time the product had obviously seeped through my scalp and into my bloodstream, and I spent most of the day tasting its plastic (and disgusting) taste. Now onto my proper review.
These days I follow the Reverse Method religiously (apart from when I tried the Crème of Nature intensive conditioning treatment), so when trying this product, I applied it to dry hair before putting on my plastic cap.
As mentioned in the opening, I kept the masque on for about twenty minutes (BIG mistake) before rinsing it out with Motions Lavish Conditioning Shampoo. I honestly hadn’t intended on shampooing my hair, but feeling the effects afterwards, I see it was a good shout.
After rinsing I tied my hair up with my trusty tee, let it drip dry before removing it and allowing my hair to air dry completely.
For a first try I honestly really loved this hair masque. Despite my errors, once my hair was almost all dry, I could feel a difference in my hair – I think the shea butter, coconut and avocado oils played a big part in this – and I could see that if I made a few changes to my application process the results would be ten times better. Luckily I’ve still got the rest of the tub to experiment with, so I look forward to seeing the ways in which I can optimise the effects of this masque.
For my final thoughts on this masque, you’ll have to wait a few months for Empties.
