In today’s post, I’m going to be sharing a few of the bits I picked up from Benefit Cosmetics when they came to my office last week.
If you’re a regular reader of the blog and watcher of my YouTube channel, you’ll know that when it comes to makeup, I prefer to use products on the cheaper drugstore end of the spectrum. However, whenever there’s a chance for me to try slightly more expensive mid-range to high-end products, I’ll always take the opportunity. So what exactly did I get?
First up, I got the GALifornia sunny golden pink blusher. I love how golden and shimmery it looked when I swatched it. Though the colour looks very light and pink, on my darker complexion it adds a sultry yet fun glow, which I’m looking forward to rocking.
Next up, I picked the Hoola Bronzer in Caramel. To be honest, I’m very hesitant about this shade because of how light it looks. I got so carried away by the fact that Benefit was in the office, that I didn’t do any proper research on their complexion products until AFTER I had bought – I know, I know, such a rookie error. In my research, I found that this shade was better suited for olive and lighter tones, and that I should have gone with Toasted instead. That said, this was actually the darkest shade that the pop-up carried. I’ve already decided that if Caramel comes off a bit too light and ashy, I’ll use it as a highlight and by Toasted at another time.
And then finally, the last two products I got were part of a free gift. I split the free gift with my co-worker because our total together added up to the minimum spend allowed for the free gift. At first I was a little apprehensive about the free gifts, but I’ve since worn them both and I actually really like them! The free gift included a mini They’re Real! Double the Tint lipstick in Pink Thrills and Beyond Sexy; and a mini Benetint Rose-Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain. When applying, I only put a small bit on for a more natural look.
