I’ve had this concealer for just under a month and I’m still a little undecided about what I think about it. When I first saw it in Boots I was skeptical about the shade as it seemed WAY TOO light for my skin, but then upon trying in the shop and rubbing it a bit onto my hand, I found that it actually kind of fit me (see what I did there? The concealer is part of the “fit me” range…). However, upon taking it home and actually trying out on my face, I realised that my skepticism was not all that unfounded.

As you can see from these pics, when I applied the concealer straight to my face, it left my skin looking incredibly ashy and dry. It looked like I had washed my face but then forgotten to moisturise – which if you’re dark-skinned like me is one of the most MAY-JOR faux pas you could EVER make.
I should have known it wouldn’t match properly… hahahaha *smh* |

Aside from this, it kind of covered up a few of my dark spots, but it wasn’t as effective and amazing as I thought it’d be.
aaahhhhh so grey 🙁 |
To combat its ashy and not-so-great-coverage qualities, I applied a layer of The Body Shop’s Fresh Nude Foundation to bring the colour back to my face.
I found that applying the foundation on top helped my face look blemish-free and very natural. I also found that on the areas where I had applied the concealer first, the natural daylight reflected off it perfectly, giving my face an extra brown glow! So I think that I ’ll be using this concealer for as a highlighter.
how awesome is this foundation?! can’t wait to share the full review! |
it didn’t do anything for the bags under my eyes 🙁 |
It probably goes without saying that I should have known this concealer would have come out like this, especially considering the difference in colour against my skin, but it was definitely worth a try. While I won’t be wearing this concealer on its own, I will be wearing with my foundation and I’ll continue looking for a concealer that fits me better.
Looks like I’ll have to keep my eye out for the next shade up, but so far I haven’t been so lucky. If you have any suggestions of cheapish/ drugstore concealers for me to try, do let me know.
NB. Having to stare at your own face for hours is not as fun as it seems. I could go the rest of my life without ever having to look in a mirror again hahahahahaha…
