I had planned to do a big makeup shop on Friday, hoping that I’d be able to share all the stuff that I got, BUT unfortunately, I only ended up buying one thing. While I know I could write at least two thousand words on this topic, I’m only going to say that it is beyond disheartening going makeup shopping and finding that brands/products do not have your shade or that products just don’t exist to suit your skin. One of the reasons why I wanted to start this blog was because I was sick and tired of feeling excluded and not catered to. I wanted to create a space where my skin tone was considered and where girls who look like me can feel like they belong in this beauty-obsessed world. But anyway, I won’t bore you with all that stuff today. So, like I was saying, my shopping trip didn’t go as planned, but at least I was able to pick up one piece of makeup that I can’t wait to try: Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer in 35.

When I first saw it I thought it’d be WAY too light for me as it looked beige in the shop, but when I swatched (is that even the right word?) a tester on my hand and rubbed it in, it appeared to blend quite well.

The label on the shelf said that this shade was suitable for medium to dark skin, and as I’m typing this now, I can see that the colour is actually more of a light brown caramel colour. Obviously I won’t know for sure until I use it on my face, but I’m holding out hope.

When I do open it/use it for the first time, I will definitely document it to see how well it works and then fingers crossed the dark circles under my eyes can finally vanish.

Even though my Friday shopping plans were a bit of a bust, I found the products I was looking for (in the shade I was looking for) online, so I’ll be ordering those and sharing them with you at a later time.

ps. Just so you know, you’ll probably be hearing me ranting about a lack of colour diversity in beauty products every now and again (or at least every time I go makeup shopping) because it does personally affect me, and honestly makes me feel a little shit sometimes.
