So back in April I wrote a post making a case for washing hair with nothing but water. At the time I had only read articles about the method and about some of the benefits to forgoing the usual conditioner and/or shampoo. But now fast forward four months and I’m happy to report that I finally tried washing my hair without any other supplements and I can report it has been an amazing experience – that said I have only tried the method a handful of times. First off, the reduction of time and water spent washing my hair is so great. Secondly, I noticed that my hair felt softer after just using water, and even though my hair and scalp may not have gotten the thorough clean that comes with using a shampoo or conditioner, my hair did get well cleaned because I saw lots of product build up wash out of my hair. The trick to a good clean is to massage your head like you’d normally do when washing your hair, and to alternate between cool and cold water. I’ve found that the cold water helps to really clean the hair and get those stubborn areas with loads of build up to wash out.
While this is obviously the greater option if you’re running low on time (or are feeling super lazy and not in the mood to do the full hair wash regime), but this method of washing hair is also very beneficial as you don’t wash out your hair’s natural oils.
