How to Cover Your Hyperpigmentation with Makeup to Create The Perfect Base.

As someone with dark spots, hyperpigmentation, discolouration… (the list goes on), my biggest goal when doing my makeup is to create a flawless and natural base. I want my complexion to give the illusion of perfectly even, blemish-free skin without looking like I’m wearing a lot of makeup. If you have the same makeup goals, this post will offer you inspiration and tips. So how do I create the ultimate base that covers my hyperpigmentation? It all comes down to four staple products: skin tint, concealer, foundation and powder.

By now, it’s no secret that I am head-over-heels in love with Charlotte Tilbury makeup, so it’s no surprise that 3 out of 4 products that help me create the perfect base for my complexion are CT products. I use a combination of the Hollywood Flawless Filter in 6.5 and 7, the Beautiful Radiant Skin Concealer in 14 deep, and the Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation in 14 neutral. To finish up, I use the NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Setting Powder in medium-deep.

In a recent TikTok, I shared my steps to achieving the perfect seamless base to help cover my hyperpigmentation and dark spots. While I don’t completely cover it up in the clip, I like that I can still get such an effortless finish. To get fuller coverage and zero visible hyperpigmentation, I would either use more of the Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation or I would opt for a matte foundation. I have my eye on the Airbrush Flawless Filter Foundation, so watch this space.

It’s funny to think that up until a couple of months ago, the only makeup products I ever owned were one foundation, a couple of blushers and mascara. But somehow, 2023 has been the year of moving away (kind of) from my skincare obsession and focusing on makeup. As such, I’m constantly learning and trying out different makeup techniques and products, so I’m sure this routine will get an update soon.
