Oh say it ain’t so! I’ve ditched the baby wipes and have now transitioned into the “adult” way of removing makeup (expect a full post on this soon). After I broke out in that nasty rash a few weeks ago, I realised it was time to make some changes in my skincare especially when it comes to at the end of the day. While I’m still not 100% about what caused my rash, I decided to blame my face wipes as in the past they have left my face feeling a little irritated after use (and even if they weren’t to blame, I like the fact that I was forced to start taking my skincare seriously and not just as another way to spend all my money after pay day). Check out the new regime that helped to fix my face and return it to its former beauty-glory.
FRESH SEABERRY CLEANSING OIL
Coincidentally, around the time my rash flared up I started using this cleansing oil sample to remove my makeup, as well as using sometimes in the morning as a face wash – I know, you’ve got some competition now Dudu Osun. I loved the sample so much I went ahead and bought the full sized bottle (more on that next time too). Seaberry is known to treat and prevent acne (hello!!), hydrate skin, and is said to be absolutely amazing for sensitive skin. If you ask me it sounds like a miracle in oil form.
this sample may have been small, but it sure was mighty (it lasted me near three whole weeks!!) |
i like to dowse my face in this miracle cleansing oil |
once you add water to the oil, it emulsifies and becomes more like a face wash |
JOJOBA OIL
About five days into my rash freakout, I started researching about some of the oils I already had, to see which ones would be great for helping clear up skin. Aware of jojoba’s magic powers for my hair, I had forgotten that jojoba has natural antibacterial properties that help give great skin. I started washing my face with the stuff every few days, and made sure to use it to moisturise my face after removing my makeup with the seaberry cleansing oil. Known to also fight acne and other skin ailments, I think the jojoba acted more as a disinfectant for whatever the rash on my face was and I could definitely feel such a huge difference after using it. From now on jojoba is going to be my go-to oil whenever skin issues arise.
FRESH BLACK TEA FIRMING OVERNIGHT MASK
And then last but not least, I layer on my black tea firming overnight mask. I have to admit that I’m about thhiiiiiiiiiiisssss close to spending £77 on the full jar just because I don’t know what I’ll do once I’ve finished it. I will be on the hunt for a cheaper alternative.
My current new regime is fairly similar to this (I might share this in another post at another time) and though it seems a lot longer than my usual baby wipe routine, I think it probably only takes a few extra minutes than using my wipes (I used to spend a good three to five minutes just removing my mascara). I like to think that my face appreciates the extra effort I’m now putting into taking care of it – even if my bank balance is looking at me like a crazy person.
