About a week or two before I flew out to Spain, I changed my night time skincare routine with the goal of giving The Ordinary acids a second chance. Compared to my morning routine which is kind of different to what I do back home in London, my nighttime routine is the same.
For most nights I start my night time routine with a cleanser. However, for the odd day when I’ve been particularly active or it’s been particularly sunny, I like to start with the Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Cleansing Oil.
As you saw last week, I brought the Fresh Rose Face Mask with me. I’ve used it a couple of times during this trip and like to apply it after cleansing when my skin is at its cleanest and open to its soothing benefits. At home I tend to leave this mask on for a few hours but here I’ve been leaving it on for at most thirty minutes – it’s still more than the advised time, but what can I say? I like to let things sit on my face.
After rinsing off the mask, I apply the The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10%. I’m now super serious about the hyperpigmentation and dark spots on my face and am trying everything to fade them. Mandelic acid is a lot gentler on darker-skinned people but takes a longer time to see results. Because of this, I made sure to bring it with me so that I could keep working towards my clear skin goal. At the beginning of the holiday I was applying about four to five squirts per section of my face (each cheek and forehead), but about halfway through I noticed my skin was burning a little bit. I then cut down to three squirts per section.
I leave the mandelic acid on my face to work for up to an hour before bed, at which point I apply the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Face Cream Super Lotus Night Recovery. It’s quite soothing and its citrusy scent always helps me drift off. Using it alongside the mandelic acid, I’ve noticed that my face definitely feels a lot tighter.
I then finish off with the Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate eye cream and dab a small amount on my eyelids and under eyes.
If it’s been an especially busy day (like last Sunday was), I’ll use the Fresh Rose Face Mask sample I got a few months ago to cool, soothe and tone my face. I leave it on for about ten to thirty minutes before rinsing it and continuing with the rest of my skincare steps.
