In today’s post, I’m sharing alllllll of the cleanser I like to use and have used in the past year. In the last couple of months, I’ve definitely been experimenting a little bit more in terms of cleansers (if you’ve been following the blog for a while you’ll know that for the longest time I was only about that black soap life) and keeping several in rotation.
Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash
I mentioned this cleanser a while ago in my post about triple cleansing. I only use this twice(ish) a week because I keep it at my boyfriend’s house. I actually only bought this because I couldn’t find the Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Control Daily Wash in his local Tesco. Funnily enough, I’ve grown to really love this face wash and whenever my spots are at their peak (I’m talking painful bursting whiteheads), this exfoliator is the perfect thing to settle them down and restore my face. In fact, I love this face wash so much I’m tempted to buy another one to keep at my house.
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
The amount I talk about the soy face cleanser, you’re definitely NOT surprised to see this cleanser on the list lol. Even though I’m not a fan of this cleanser on its own because it’s too light and not powerful enough to deal with my skin issues, I do like it. Why? Because it is actually so light and airy, it makes my skin feel like it’s walking on clouds. It leaves a really lovely lightweight, cucumbery, cooling finish and does not strip the skin at all. I think it really excels as the second step in a double cleanse (contrary to what the tube says, it is not that great at removing mascara – trust me) and I love using this to remove any excess oil or dirt from my face. I keep a tube of this at my boyfriend’s house so that I can still triple cleanse whenever I stay over at his place. Sidenote: my boyfriend even likes using it too! Also, Fresh has a special design to celebrate the product’s 20th anniversary which I’m pretty sure I’m going to get.
Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Cleansing Oil
OMG this is hands down my all-time FAVOURITE cleanser. This oil cleanser gets rid of every single last scrap of makeup (INCLUDING mascara – I wear a lot of mascara so I really know) and since I first tried it as a sample last year, I have not looked back. The oil is very gentle on the skin and doesn’t strip it of anything. It also leaves my face feeling so soft, supple and clean after using it. I always use this as the first step in my double/triple cleanse. When I’m travelling I decant some oil into the sample bottle I received last year and use that. It’s so convenient to travel with and means that I’m never without it. I also love to use this cleanser if I feel my skin needs a bit of pampering because the oil feels so luxurious and it’s so therapeutic to massage this over your face for a few minutes. If there is one Fresh product you should try (aside from their Rose collection), it’s definitely this oil. You won’t regret it and it’ll honestly the best £35 you’ll ever spend.
Clarins One Step Exfoliating Cleanser
My new baby. As I mentioned in Tuesday’s post, I bought this about two weeks ago and I’ve been loving it ever since. It gently buffs away at skin leaving you with a soft almost blurry finish, and I swear my face has never felt this soft. I use this wash twice a day: once in the morning and again in the evening as the last step in my triple cleanse. Even though I use it twice a day, I don’t feel like my skin is over-exfoliated (which can sometimes be a problem) as I only use a small amount. I feel like it really cleans my skin without rubbing it raw and it’s also helped keep some pesky whiteheads at bay. It has orange extract which I’m hoping will do a thing or two my dark spots (fingers crossed) but I’ll keep you posted.
Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Control Daily Wash
My brother put me on to this cleanser months ago. When I first used it I swear my face hadn’t felt so great in a long time. Before this, I was switching between the Dudu Osun and Mililo black soaps, but neither was doing anything for my incessant breakouts. I remember using this as my hormonal spots started rearing their ugly heads and this really helped reduce them in a matter of days – way quicker than either of the soaps had ever done. With more constant use, I noticed that the shelf-life of my spots reduced drastically. You’ll notice that I didn’t take any to Spain with me and omg did my skin had a massive freak out. As soon as I arrived in Spain, my whole face erupted in spots that refused to budge for the longest time, and they did, they left me with more dark spots grrrr. When I arrived back in London two weeks later, the first thing I did was wash my face with this. When I tell you that my skin pretty much went back to normal straightaway it felt like finally getting a screaming toddler to get to sleep. So peaceful. Truth be told, I haven’t used it at all since I got the Clarins cleanser, but this will always be close to my heart.
Mililo Black Soap
There was a point when this soap was my go to. I used this every day and it catered to my skin’s needs at the time. These days, I only use this as the second step in my triple cleansing routine if there’s no Dudu Osun in the bathroom.
Dudu Osun Black Soap
The OG of cleansers for me. I’ve been using this for YEARS (like since I was a teenager, years). When I was in uni my friends were always in awe at how soft my face was and I owed that all up to this magical soap. Over the years I’ve continued to use it, even though now my skin needs have changed. I can imagine that I’ll probably use this soap for the rest of my life because it is such a big part of my skincare journey and it really does do a great job of cleaning my face deeply without completely drying it out. Like I mentioned above, I use this as the second step in my triple cleansing routine.
And there you have it, all my cleansers. Sure having seven cleansers on the go may seem a bit much, but trust me when I say it’s really not as complicated as it seems. And like I’ve mentioned above, my skin needs mostly dictate which cleanser I use, so most times I can go weeks without using a particular cleanser. What cleansers do you guys like to use? Let me know in the comments below.
