After what felt like an actual lifetime, I’m so happy to FINALLY have my glossier moisturiser! To give you some context, I ordered this on November 27th, saw it was at the delivery depot literally fifteen minutes from my house on November 30th (grrrr) then had to wait for it to actually arrive at my house on December 7th. Seeing how it took a week to get from the warehouse to my actual house, I’m most annoyed that I could’ve literally just walked down the street to pick it up if I had known I’d have to wait an additional week for it. It took so long in fact that I ordered some other moisturiser from another place, but then that also took so long to arrive, but that’s a story for another post (*hint*nextweek*hint*). I blame retrograde but I digress.

Anyway, so I got this moisturiser last Thursday night but didn’t start using it until the next morning, which was a little dumb of me because I had a big company Christmas party on that day and if I had reacted badly to it, it wouldn’t have been a good look. That said, after using it for the first time I was a little disappointed because I had expected this super awesome product that would automatically relieve my skin of the deep dryness I experience, but alas it did not deliver. Later that day I just assumed it was because I hadn’t used a lot, because of the party situation I mentioned earlier. I’m more inclined to believe this because my sister had the same thought, only for her she didn’t want to use a lot on account of it not being hers.

BUT then after a weekend of forsaking all skincare, I decided to give it another try, after all I did spend £23 on the stuff, which is pretty expensive if you ask me. To my welcomed surprise I found the moisturiser worked a lot better the second time. I think this was because 1) I put it on while my face was still a little bit damp from washing it and 2) I layered up on product meaning about twenty minutes after I first applied it, I apply another layer (which is something I do with my skincare anyway, but I’ll leave that for another post, maybe next month). Since then, I’ve been using this once/twice a day and I have noticed that the usual dry spots I sometimes get have been nowhere in sight. Still despite this, my skin still feels that bit dry after I put this on and I find myself having to layer on other products to give my skin that nourished and hydrated feeling.

The verdict: I am falling in love with this moisturiser – I even had a moment the other morning when I wondered what I would do when it runs out and if it’d be worth buying again (I’m leaning towards yes even though I know better) – and I can see why people love it so much. It’s balmy, creamy, super luxurious, but for me it’s still lacking. Like I mentioned before, when I use it, I need to layer up, which I really didn’t think I’d need to. Now, that’s either because my skin never feels FULLY moisturised and nourished (I always have that lingering dry feeling a few layers deep which is honestly so annoying) and I generally layer up with two different products. Right now I’m having to layer up with THREE products, just because my face never quite feels moisturised (I’m using aloe vera Vaseline, this, and Hawaiian Tropic). Another thing I’m kind of miffed about is the fact there’s NO (read: ZERO) SPF which I find the most baffling – just because. However, if there’s one thing that makes me give this moisturiser five stars, it’s how flawless it makes my face looks once I’ve applied all my makeup. I swear I’ve never looked better!
So, Will I buy it again? Ask me in a month.
