If you’re planning a weekend getaway to Paris anytime soon, these are the *realistic* things you need to pack. Having actually spent a solo weekend in the French capital in May, I think I’m qualified to speak on some of the basics you’ll be happy you brought. So forget about those videos you’ve seen on TikTok and YouTube and pay attention because these are the pieces you should pack for three days in Paris.
Three days in Paris
Even though your outfits will mostly be dictated by the weather and any activities you have planned, for the most part, you really can’t go wrong with the following…
Clothes
Remember you’re only going for three days, so you don’t need to bring your whole wardrobe. The best way to figure out what to pack is to split up your outfits per day – I recommend two outfits: one for day and one for night – as that will feel less overwhelming.
Jeans:
- You’ll want to take at least two pairs (or you can re-wear one pair, it’s up to you), so you have something for the day and the night. Also, if it’s chilly or rainy then your legs are covered.
Tops:
- A tee, a shirt, and a cami will have all your bases covered as they can be mixed and matched in multiple ways to create different outfits. Oh and how could I forget about a jumper? This is basically a glorified accessory that you can wear in many different ways that will most definitely come in handy at one point or another.
Dresses:
- If you prefer a more girly style or want to mix up your looks, then dresses and skirts are a perfect alternative to jeans and a top. Pro tip: an LBD is a must for something easy and effortless.
Jackets:
- Parisians love a blazer and light jacket, so what better way to look like a local than with their staple wardrobe heroes? Not only are these stylish ways to complete an outfit, but they’ll keep you warm on chilly days/nights out. Bonus points if your blazer is black and oversized.
Shoes
You really only need three pairs of shoes, max: trainers – because you’ll be walking A LOT; a flat boot or shoe – in case you want something a bit more elevated than a trainer; and heels – because you may want to go out somewhere fancy.
Bags
A spacious tote or small-ish cross-body bag is a must. Strathberry’s East/West bag is such a beautiful bag for a weekend trip because even though it looks small at first glance, it can actually fit quite a bit inside. The double chain strap gives you the option to wear it crossbody or as a shoulder bag – literally two bags in one – and it looks super chic. The magnetic flap and bar closure also make it ideal to ward off potential pickpockets and make it tricky for you to lose anything. The Longchamp Le Pliage is also a good option because it’s so roomy (even the small size).
Now, when it comes to carrying everything, you can’t go wrong with a Tripp suitcase. A medium-sized case is perfect for three days in Paris because it’ll fit everything you need and should help prevent over-packing. It’s also the perfect size, adhering to the Eurostar’s luggage policy. An XL travel Longchamp Le Pliage is also a great option as it’s spacious and can easily fit in the overhead racks.
But honestly, as corny as it sounds, the most important thing to remember to pack is yourself. Sure travelling is a great opportunity to play around with fashion and try on different styles – I definitely did this while I was in Paris – but you still want to feel like yourself, you still want to recognise yourself when you’re looking back at photos, and you still want to feel comfortable while you’re exploring a foreign place. So if there’s one thing you take from this packing guide, I hope it’s that.

Paris hotel room tour
Located in Pigalle, the Hotel Rochechouart is the best place to spend three days in Paris. Not only does it have a very distinctive art deco vibe, but it’s a large building with many amenities, e.g., a restaurant, bar, nightclub, rooftop terrace, oyster bar; and is close to cute cafes and shops.
