Happy Friday guys! Today we have another long-un. To round off my new blog series, Currently Using, I’m sharing all the skincare products I’m currently using. You will most likely be familiar with some (if not all) products featured. I decided to split this post into two sections: Day and Night, so that you can get a clearer idea of which products I used when. My skin has been looking all kinds of fabulous, if I do say so myself, and I’ve been getting quite a few compliments about it recently. This is probably the post I’m most excited to share as I’ve been actively working on my skin for at least the past year.
Before I start, I would say that my skin is normal to dry and not very sensitive. If you have sensitive skin you may want to patch test before trying any of these products (especially the acids), but for the most part, these products should be okay for you.
Day
My morning/daytime routine is actually pretty simple compared to my evening routine as I tend to be rushing and have less time.
After brushing my teeth the first thing I’ll do is cleanse my face. If I’m at home, I’ll cleanse with the Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser.
If I’m at my boyfriend’s house I will cleanse with the Clean & Clear Daily Exfoliating Wash.
While my face is still wet (read: dripping) I will spritz with the Fresh Rose Floral Toner and rub that in, bringing it down my neck. If my hands are still a bit wet, I’ll rub them over my arms, legs knees – basically anywhere where there’s exposed skin lol.
Next up is serum! You guys will definitely recognise the serums I use as I’ve shared them on here several times. I randomly doubled up on my serums a few weeks ago and I haven’t looked back. Mixing both of my serums has been such a game changer and my skin is on a whole other level these days.
I start off with the Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Serum, squeezing three pumps onto the back of my hand. I massage this over my face in sections: left cheek, right cheek and forehead. Again, I remember to bring this down my neck and massage it all over. If you suffer from dry skin deep in the tissue like I did, I cannot recommend this enough. This serum got rid of my dry skin and honestly changed my life.
Next I use the Avon Anew Vitamin C Radiance Maximising Serum. I love how much this brightens up my face, giving it a healthy natural-looking glow.
While all this is settling into my skin I apply the Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate eye cream. I’m currently using a sample I got a few months ago. I really want to buy the full size, but it’s £58 and I’m on the fence.
Next I apply the Nivea Q10 Plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy Day Cream SPF15 to my face and neck.
Last but not least I finish up my skincare routine with sunscreen. You guys know I’m OBSESSED with the Nivea Sun UV Face Q10 Anti-Age & Pigments SPF50 sunscreen. It leaves zero percent white residue and it doesn’t turn me blue, purple or ashy – making it the perfect sunscreen for us dark skinned peeps.
Once this is all done I move on to my makeup.
Night
I definitely spend more time on my skin in the evening as I’m not rushing and removing the day from my face takes way longer. If I’ve been wearing makeup during the day then I will do all of these steps; however, if I haven’t, I will only do one cleanse usually with an exfoliating cleanser before moving on to the later steps.
To start, I squeeze four to six pumps of the Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Cleansing Oil and massage all over my face. I probably massage my face for about three to four minutes before I go to my eyes and gently (but firmly) use each oiled finger to remove mascara from my lashes. Not only does this get rid of every last single scrap of makeup from my face, but it’s also incredibly therapeutic and is just what I need after a long day.
Once this is rinsed off my face, I start the second cleanse of my three-step-cleanse routine. I use the Dudu Osun Black Soap and massage the lather all over my face, making sure to concentrate where I applied oil. Sometimes oil can get left behind on my face so I like to make sure I get rid of that.
If I’m at my boyfriend’s house, I’ll do this step with the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser.
After rinsing off the soap I begin the final cleanse with the Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser.
If I’m at my boyfriend’s house, I’ll use the Clean & Clear Daily Exfoliating Wash.
A couple of times a week I’ll do a face mask. Recently, I’ve been using the Fresh Rose Face Mask. I’ll leave this on for a few hours before rinsing and moving on to the next steps. If I don’t do a face mask, then I’ll just move straight on to the next steps.
Once my skin is clean and totally devoid of all makeup and/or mask I spritz my face with the Fresh Rose Floral Toner and massage that in, making sure to bring it down my neck.
Next up it’s time for my acids. Every night I alternate between The Ordinary’s Mandelic Acid and Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%. If I’m at my boyfriend’s house, I will use whichever acid I’ve brought along with me. I leave these acids to work their magic on my skin for a couple of hours before moving on.
Right before bed, I apply the Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate from the morning.
After that, I apply the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Face Cream Super Lotus Night Recovery.
I plan to share updates every three to six months, depending on how different my makeup, hair and skincare products and routines change over time. I’ll also be sharing lots of things over on Instagram and YouTube, so make sure you’re following and subscribed!
