Congrats to you if you managed the mouthful that is the title of this post – and trust me when I say it was just a big a mouthful to type as it is to say. Anyway, now that we’ve got the title out of the way I’ll get on to the main event. By now I’m sure that every galaxy (and then some) knows about the benefits of coconut oil/water to hair, skin and body. It moisturises, nourishes, repairs, hydrates, softens, strengthens, aids growth, and I’m pretty sure we’ll find it even cures cancer. In regards to this particular coconut based product, Camille Rose Naturals promises shiny, silky soft hair, and works well with both wet and dry hair. You also have the option of using the conditioner as a co-wash, leave-in or rinse out conditioner. And as far as packaging goes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this packaging. It’s really pretty and made me excited to try this product the most. Enough talking from me, let’s get on with my thoughts on this conditioner!
I started by co-washing with Avon’s verbana and peppermint conditioner then prepping my hair with a much needed green tea rinse. (You can read more about it here.)
wooooah big eyes! |
The first thing I noticed about the sample was how small it was. It was so small, it looked more like somebody had put some conditioner in my packet of hair. However, upon researching other Camille Rose Naturals products, as well as the full size product, and saw how expensive it was, I wasn’t as disappointed by the small amount given in the sample. Like all coconut based products, the conditioner smelt of you guessed it…coconut; but unlike most coconut based products, it smelt more like the thick canned coconut water you get from Sainsbury’s.
To apply, I divided my scalp in half then proceeded to section of each half and massage the conditioner in my hair.
When I was done applying it, I combed through my hair with a wide-toothed comb.
A few weeks ago I read an article about the “right” amount of fall out Naturals experience from combing their hair. While some considered less fall out as a good sign, others said the amount of fall out one experiences isn’t always indicative of how good or bad ones hair is. With this in mind, I was curious to know what you think about the amount of fall out that comes after combing your hair. Below is all the fall out I experienced after combing my hair with a wide-toothed comb. Bear in mind I don’t comb my hair every day and while I was washing my hair I only saw a few strands in the bath.
I finished by putting my hair in two braids and then applying a small amount of my argan oil Blue Magic to the ends so that they wouldn’t dry out.
My overall thoughts about this sample were positive. I thought it was moisturising and the next morning when I woke up, my hair still felt moisturised. I had been worried that given how small the amount in the sample that it wouldn’t be enough for my hair (especially following my green tea rinse that tends to dry hair out), but I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not sure if I’ll make an effort to go out and buy a full size bottle, but it’s definitely a product I’d use again. Also, if twitter is anything to go by, Camille Rose Naturals products are fairly popular among the natural community so I would definitely be interested in trying some of their other products. With that I mind, the next time I go hair shopping I’ll see if they have any more samples. And speaking of samples, I still have more to try out and share with you, so stay tuned for those.
