Wow! Who can believe that tomorrow will be the last day of 2016? I definitely think 2016 has been one of the fastest years ever. At the beginning of the year I set myself some hair and beauty goals, and I thought it’d be cool to have a look back at those goals and see if I managed to achieve any of them. Here goes…
HAIR
My hair goals for this year were to grow out my hair to my shoulders, and for my damaged ends to recover. While I can’t say I was able to grow my hair out that long, my hair has definitely grown from when I cut it really short at the end of last year. I’d say that about 80% of my hair has returned to its natural kinky state, while the remaining 20% is in limbo (and parts of me think it’ll probably stay like that for the rest of my – that’s what I get for relaxing my hair for over a decade). My hair is also definitely a lot healthier than how I found it at the beginning of the year, although I am suffering from a case of split-ends.

BEAUTY
My beauty goals for this year were to find more products aimed at Black women, and to experiment with different makeup looks. I know I definitely failed big time at the first goal, as I kind of gave up on beauty related things half way through the year. That being said, I’m quite surprised I was able to achieve the second goal of experimenting with different makeup (though they weren’t really drastic experimentations), as I grew a real fondness for falsies and wore them at several points in the year.
In terms of hair and beauty, this year has really been one of growth and knowledge. I’ve loved finding new ingredients in my Treatments To Try segments, and I’ve loved finding and trying out new products and brands.
