It’s been a little while since I’ve written anything new on here – partly because I’ve been concentrating a lot on my YouTube channel. But today I’m returning with an original post I’ve been wanting to share for a while, about a topic I always talk about: sunscreen. However, while this conversation is always interesting around this time of year when it’s not quiiiiite summer but the weather is finally starting to figure itself out; given the current circumstances, this topic is even more than ever.
I always talk about how I wear sunscreen every day for a number of different reasons including:
- Helps reduce dark spots and hyperpigmentation
- Prevents premature aging
- Blocks dangerous UVA and UVB rays
- Protects my skin against the sun while using products with active ingredients
- Evens skin tone and keeps discolouration at bay
- Provides relief for sunburn
Even though these benefits are crucial when we’re out and about in the world, doesn’t mean they’re not still important just because we’re spending more time indoors. If anything, they’re more important. Why?
- Firstly, UVA and rays can pass through clouds and windows meaning, you’re still susceptible to sunburn and sun damage if you’re sat by a window. While UVB rays can still cause cancer and sunburn.
- Secondly, if you’re a fan of active ingredients and acids (especially if you’re using this time to experiment with things like retinol, AHA, BHA) then you’ll want to make sure you’re protecting your skin, as it’ll be more vulnerable than ever.
- This next point is a tad controversial as there hasn’t been a lot of research done on it, but the blue light emitted from our laptops and phones throughout the day can potentially have a negative effect on our face – especially now that most of us are working from home every day.
- And finally, maintaining the same skincare routine while staying safe at home, is a great way for your skin to keep receiving great benefits.
You guys already know I’m incredibly loyal to my Nivea SPF50 sunscreen, so that’s a great place to start if you’re looking for an affordable sunscreen. Yesterday I ordered a brand new sunscreen on the recommendation of a dear friend, so I’m looking forward to receiving it next week. In the meantime,
Psst. If you haven’t already, make sure you check out my videos, like, comment, subscribe and share with your friends.
